
The Wa West District Public Relations Officer of Ghana Ghana Education Service, Mr.Cladeus Kuuyuor has expressed concern about the Low number of furniture in basic schools within the District.
In an interview with Tinus Tuozie on Radio Waa’s Yelkaabahi Program on Wednesday 16th November 2022, Mr. Cladeus revealed that the District has 308 Basic schools which includes Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High Schools.
He added that the District has Just a little over 7,000 Desks for students numbering 31,101, compelling about 24,000 students to study on the bare floor of classrooms.
“..We West has 31,101 students and we have 308 schools, this Includes KG, Primary and JHS, the District Chief Executive, Madam Vida has been Supporting but the low number has affected teaching and Learning we need more stakeholders to come inn and Assist..”.
He mentioned some Communities with such Challenges Including Wechiau Bao and Balawa.
“They are not motivated but we are Making sure we get them back to school, in schools within Balawa and Wechiau Bao, parents are assisting with furniture”.
