A group of soldiers accompanied by the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Bin Salih have stormed 3 Communities in Wa West District to clamp down on illegal miners in the communities including Dorimon, Konlingu and Jorlereteng.

Several machines were destroyed including Generators, Pipes and other extraction hardware.

The Regional Minister described their activities as a threat to water bodies, farms and the environment at large.

Statement from Regional Coordinating Council

“Security agencies carried out operations at some illegal mining sites in Wa West District on Wednesday 15th June 2022. The activities of these illegal miners (galamsey) are a threat to our water bodies, farmlands, our health and national security. The places visited were Dorimon, Konlingu and Jorlereteng.”
