The death of a 34-year-old woman who
received illegal butt injections in a Queens
basement has been ruled a homicide. A medical examiner announced that Kelly Mayhew’s death happened by way of “systemic silicone emboli due to cosmetic
silicone injections of buttocks.” In other words,the the sham-job silicone injections did it. Mayhew, who was was a freelancer for BET Networks, drove from Maryland to Far Rockaway, Queens with her mother to get the illegal procedure done by an underground
“doctor.” The procedure was done in the basement of a two-story home. During the
procedure, Mayhew began gurgling and
struggling to breathe, at which point the “doctor” got her things and left, as Mayhew’s
mother frantically called 911 and performed
CPR on her daughter. The person responsible for the procedure made an agreement to surrender to police, but has yet to present herself. Mayhew’s mother
told reporters that a family friend was
respnsible for setting up the procedure, and
Mayhew had five previous surgeries
