
The Paramount Chief of the Lawra Traditional Area, Naa Puowelle Karbo III has been elected as the vice president of the Ghana National House of Chiefs.
In a keenly contested race, Naa Puowelle Karbo III garned 44 votes while his contender, the incumbent vice president Daasebre Kweku Ewusi VIII got 28 votes.
He will be working with the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II, who also defeated the incumbent President of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV, to become the next President of the House. Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II polled 47 out of the 72 total valid votes cast while Togbe Afede XIV had 25.
The two Paramount Chiefs will take charge of the affairs of the National House Of Chiefs till 2024 when their mandate shall expire.
