School Feeding Caterers Sacked in Lambussie

Some caterers in the Lambussie District in the Upper West Region have been sacked by the assembly authorities.
It is alleged that the caterers were sacked for failing to campaign for the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lambussie constituency, Honourable Bright Balige during the party primaries.

Abdulmedia discovered that some caterers working with the Ghana School Feeding Programme in the Lambussie District in the Upper West Region have been relieved of their duties without apparent reason.

Abdul media portal gathered that these caterers were reportedly sacked with accusation for failing to campaign for the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lambussie constituency Honorable Balige during the part primaries.
In an interview with Madam Ninepence, the Supervisor for the Upper Regional School feeding programme “ why should they be sacked, some of these caterers have huge outstanding arrears with the Ghana School Feeding and haven’t been paid yet, the more reason why we issued a notice to all the assemblies nation wide not to terminate the appointment of any caterer”
According to some of the victims this is a worrying situation and if not addressed as soon as possible will create serious confusion in the area and affect the party tremendously for which many of them have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to immediately intervene.
Narrating their stories in an interview via telephone call with Abdul Mehdi, the caterers providing services to the various schools within the area were sad and confused about the incident. Some in crying voices asked how will they get their arrears paid again.

They stressed that they campaigned vigorously for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which has led to the triumph of the party. The caterers however expressed skepticism about the development.

They stated that they were shocked to see their names replaced with different caterers at the Assembly Notice Board and some places change to different schools, today, Monday, January 17th, 2022.
The existing caterers pointed out that they didn’t receive their dismissal letters from the Lambussie District Assembly to lay down the cooking tools.

They asserted that under the contractual agreement signed with the Ghana School Feeding Programme through the Assembly, it was stipulated that if there is going to be any change in regards to their cooking work, the Assembly should give them one month notice before any action is executed.

To verify whether this was across the country, abdulmedia got in touch with Madam Ninpence, at the head office of the school feeding and the supervisor for the upper west regional school feeding program, she was alarmed and said ” why have they been sacked, even there was a notice last year that, no caterer should be changed”
Some of the affected caterers told abdulmedia that since they started cooking for the pupils in 2018, 2019 they have not been paid their outstanding arrears for cooking for the schools, yet cooking has been consistent and there had not been any complaint from any school authorities.

But in an interview with the DCE, he says ” they were sacked as a result of not cooking and those who had their places changed to different schools was as a result of the distance”
According to some of the caterers, whose initial places have been changed “we didn’t complain about our distance, the assembly did the changes on their wish” they were shocked about that revelation from the DCE, Hon. George.
Abdulmedia also contacted the regional coordinator , Madam Dina to understand whether she was aware of the happenings in Lambussie, according to her the information she got from the district was that “they were sacked as a result of not cooking and those who had their places changed to different schools was as a result of the distance” abdulmedia further asked whether her outfit has done any independent investigation to that effect, and her response was no.

Some constituents find it very difficult to understand the action of the assembly and say it could be politically motivated because according to them, the people maintain are the worst as compared to them.
