Riding has shaped the Economy of Upper West Region and has supported Development, one can imagine the cost of driving to a distance of 100 kilometers compared to Driving, Driving is a self Esteem need and not an economic need. Through riding people ave saved lots of money for other purposes.

To travel for 100 Kilometers in Upper West Region, one needs just 4 liters of patrol in their bike which costs Ghc28 today. It has made the demand for motorbikes higher than in 2016 and 2017. Most need bikes but which are the durable and strong bikes we have in the Region. Some people ride from Upper West to far places such s Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, Obuasi Tamale etc in hours.

1. Haojue 110-3: This bike has a strong Engine that can last for over 10 years if care is taken with it, though it has expensive parts, they last, the motorbike can move at a speed of 100 km/h which is it’s highest, its fuel consumption is moderate and it hardly vibrates when on top speed, this keeps the human body calm with less tiredness. They are mostly imported from Togo.

Though the covers of the bike aren’t strong they can easily be replaced.

3. Apsonic Aloba 125-30: this motorbike has been the favorite of most long distance travellers due to its speed and comfort, the bike can go at a speed of 110km/h which means it will take you less than an hour to travel a distance of 100 kilometers. Its parts though expensive last longer, it has also got a moderate fuel consumption though its consumption cannot be compared to smaller engines such as 110 capacities.

4. Haojin 125: this bike came to replace the Sukida model of it, it came alongside Luojia 110-8 bikes and has since proven to be resilient, it can last for over 10 years when maintained properly because its parts are affordable. It also moves at a speed of 100km/h.

5. TVS-100: a very resilient motorbikes that can last for over 12 years, the bikes are made for gentle riders who do not necessarily care about speed, the bike can move at a speed of 60km/h which means it will take one at least 2 hours to cover a distance of 100 kilometers. It’s parts are a bit expensive.

Prices of Motorbikes have shot Up unbearably due to the covid-19 pandemic, the borders have been closed since April 2021 and due to the development importing has been an issue, meanwhile we are working to compare prices in Upper West with other Regions.
