Azumah Resources LTD is Into Gold Mining

An 82 Kilometer Road is to be Constructed from Charikpong to Danyuo-Kuraa by Azumah Resources Ltd,  a Mining Company within the Upper West Region.

The Road is to serve as a root through which their raw materials will be transported,  explaining the reason for tye Road, Mr. Solomon Dery,  a Staff of the Company narrated that using public roads with engineer more road traffic and destroy most roads due to the nature of their vehicles and machines they will be using to carryout their mining activities within.

Mr. Dery added that the road will be used by the company only,  the public wont be allowed to use the roads. He continued that there wont be compensations for now till they begin full operations.

As i indicated,  we are not compensating any farmer because we haven’t gotten there yet,  when we get to that stage then we will begin to do that compensation,  we don’t have any kind of agreement with any chief,  as i indicated,  the compensation is between us and the affected persons. Not any chief who does not own land within the area, if we want to compensate the chiefs,   its not like the Ashanti Region where the chiefs,  Ashantihene is dominant over the lands and decide what to do with it,  here lands are owned by individuals and families and so if you want to go that way,  before you realise you will he depriving a lot of people of their entitlements, so that compensation will go straight to affected persons and that is why we did the surveys so that we can identify each and every one who owns lands or has any property within the area,  and we will take down the details,  the community you are from, every detail of you,  next of kin other family members,  so the community doesn’t come inn at that. Its only the compensation negotiation committee where you have the traditional authorities coming in,  the chiefs and landlords and you have some representatives from the affected persons and some key people from the community to sit with the committee to do that negotiation.

He also highlighted on the issue of the roads.

As we speak now there is no road within the mining areas,  within the yellow spots that probably we intend to construct,  there are only some kind of discussions which have not been finalized yet that an 82kilometer road be constructed from Danyuo-Kuraa purposely for our vehicles because we dont want to use public roads over public safety issues so that the materials here that will be mined will he transported from here to that place for processing,  but there are other options on the drawing board to have a mining project here(Danyuo-Kuraa),  that will run for 2-3 years before we establish another project here(Nadowli) and that is absolutely the decision of the board of directors.
