Wa Municipal Director of Education, Miss Sophia Dimah Nandzo

Madam Sophia Dimah Nandzo, the Wa Municipal Director of Education, has advised students to take Information and Communication Technology (ICT) seriously for job opportunities.

She said despite the manufacturing and supplies of computers, there were still challenges in using them at the schools.

Madam Nandzo said this during the inauguration of ICT laboratory block for Bomandi International School in Wa on Sunday.

The commissioning of the laboratory is to support the students to have more knowledge and interest in the teaching and learning of ICT.

Madam Nandzo said the government was making more efforts to make ICT learning effective to enhance teaching and learning in schools.

She lauded Bomandi International School for making ICT learning a priority in the school, saying, “we have seen the impact of ICT when covid-19 pandemic emerged where teaching and learning were carried out through zoom, and it helped to reduce the risk of getting the virus.’’

Madam Nandzo appealed to non-governmental organisations to support the Bomandi International School with ICT tools to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr Dasaana N.S. Adam, the proprietor of Bomandi International School, said research was important in learning and the internet provided the most reliable means and source of secondary information.

’’Without the skills of research through the computer and associated technologies, our children would have been handicapped in so many ways”, he explained.

Mr Dasaana appealed to partners to share ideas with teachers at the school to help inspire the learning abilities of the children.

The computer laboratory has twelve computers, a projector and accessories and a laptop.
