Kindergarten(KG) pupils of the Firiwa Preparatory school in the Sissala East constituency sit and lie on their bellies to study due to lack of furniture.
The kids do not also have any playing equipment to be engaged with while in school.
In an interview with Radford Newsroom, the headteacher of the school, Mr. Shaibu Osman has said the school since its inception was provided with 91 pieces of furniture for some 91 pupils who were admitted in 2018, and has complained that several of them have since been damaged giving rise to the situation coupling with higher enrollment.
He said the school currently has about 253 pupils in enrollment.
According to headteacher, since the inception of the school the KG kids have being occupying a classroom meant for primary pupils, due to lack of a befitting KG block for them.
He has also said the school lacks library books, computers and teaching and learning materials, and that the school is equally not on the capitation grant despite several appeals and follow-ups to the municipal education directorate.
The headteacher, Mr. Osman Shaibu has therefore called on “corporate entities, Non-Governmental Organizations(NGOs), individuals, the member of parliament, Issahaku Amidu Chinnia, the municipal assembly and the general public” to intervene to address the plight of the KG kids.
