The Wa Municipal Assembly Members have today, April 22nd 2022 met to elect a new Presiding Member after the Tenure of Office for Hon. Karim Toppie, Assembly Member for Nakore Electoral Area had Expired.

A candidate needs 2/3 of the total votes of the house to be officially elected.

Two Assembly Members are in the race for the position of presiding Member

Hon Karim Topie – 30 – 68.2%
Hon Alhassan Daubile – 12 – 27.3%
Rejected – 2 – 4.5%

Total – 44

The Election has been adjourned to the next 10 days which is on Monday, 2nd of May 2022.
