Upper West Regional Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Ahmed Mustapha has referred to the demand for hospital folders before treatment as outdated health practice.
This was after he explained how his wife was unfairly treated at the Wa Municipal and Psychiatric Hospital.
He revealed this to Yirimambo Advocacy Team in an interview.
“Good morning, she(my wife) has never attended the wa Municipal hospital. Most at times if she is not well we go to homeland for treatment but because the issue was very serious and I also stayed closed to the wa Municipal hospital I decided to go there. In any case folder before assessment and treatment is a backward treatment in an emergency. If u read the interview I granted I made it clear that if when I went for the folder the patient was still left unattended to and this is not the first time this is happening. A 14 yr boy from BOLI lost his life in a similar situation at the wa Municipal hospital and we should learn from that and know that the least mistake of a nurse can leads to death.”
The Regional NADMO Director called for changes in some policies at the Municipal health facility.
