Chairman of ASPAWAP(Alhaji Toyiba) Threatened to lock shops of Non Members

Association of Sachet Water Producers (ASPAWAP) in Wa have issued an illegal notice to some producers who are not part of their Association.

The letter contained threats to fine the non members an amount of Ghc1,000 and lock up their office for 5days if they fail to comply by the directive to sell at Ghc5 from 18th of April 2022.

The letter was signed by the chairman, Alhaji Toyiba Mahama, an aspiring member for the position of Regional NPP Chairman and also the owner of ZamZam mineral water.

Some names including Philip, producer of Happy Life H²O was mentioned as part of members who went to Wa poly Street to threaten producers. Producer of A+ mineral water was part of members who went to threaten producers on Wa poly Street.

The reason issued for increasing prices was that, fuel Price, cost of spare parts have gone up.

“Respectfully, we acknowledge your contribution to the supply of sachet water in the municipality, due to price increment in the various component of our material and its attendance Issue example Fuel, and spare parts.

The association deem it necessary to adjust price ot sachet water to much up with current price as stipulated by the national Association.

We write to inform you that if you fail to go by the current price of GH¢ 5, Starting from 18th

April, 2022.

The association will not hesitate to crack the whip and failing to comply will attract a fund of One Thousand Ghana Cedis (1,000) and five days’ lockup.
