
Some Sachet Water Producers in the Wa Municipality have threatened to involve the police should the Sachet Water producers association attempt locking their business firms.
This was after an official communique was released to some producers by Alhaji Toyiba Mahama, the Chairman, barring them from Selling at Ghc4 beginning 18th of April 2022.
The communique noted that, any business who sells below the expected Ghc5 arrived at by the association shall pay a fine of One thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc1, 000) and have their firms locked up for 5 days.
Upperwestmedia Team has interviewed some producers in the business and on producer who exposed the letter stated:
“I have seen their notice but I don’t think I will work with that, I will work with the laws of the land instead, I’m a growing business and wont allow any selfish individual cripple my firm, I’m creating a brand and someone has opted to cripple it, this happens no where except in Wa, there is freedom of Association and I’m not a part of your association, you cant force me, besides two Muslims brothers brought the letter to me, first of all, we are in a holy month and our Muslim brothers and sisters use water often, where from the insensitivity, fuel prices have dropped and I can’t use that as a reason to increase prices neither will I use spare parts as a reason, you can increase yours if your product is top brand, I won’t hesitate to involve the police if anything funny happens, Read Ayah al-Mutaffifin”.
Checks in Jirapa An neighboring districts prove water prices are stable, some businesses have revealed that producers in Wa Send water to Jirapa and Nadowli to sell at Ghc3.50.
