Upper West Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puoziung has indicated that between 575 to 600 People have filed to contest in the Regional Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He added that some aspirants and other party members have written petitions to challenge the candidature of some aspirants.
The Secretary Mentioned Constituencies Including Sissala East, Lambussie and Wa Central.
He however opted not to disclose Constituencies and individuals that have had their appeals upheld or dismissed sighting integrity ass factor.
He gave reasons why some party members were disqualified stating that some party members were only captured in the NDC’s database this year(2022) but also filed to contest, he went further to add that such People aren’t qualified to contest because a member should be in the party’s database for at least 4 years before he or she can be qualified to contest.
“Some people have only being in the party for 3 months, they are sympathizers and it has to take not less than four years to be able to contest in the internal elections, see people still use the old constitution which is the 2012 constitution instead of the 2018 Constitution, there are some clauses that can disqualify a person but people focus more on the guidelines and not the constitution, the party has made amendments and People should look into that”.
