Jirapa MCE was at Assisi

On 6th September, 2022, the Regional Minister of Upper West embarked on his usual tour to Jirapa Municipal to interact with Staff, Opinion Leaders and supervise implementation of Government Policies and Programmes.

At a closed door meeting, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Lawyer Nicholas Soyiri brought to the attention of the Minister, the urgent need to rehabilitate the Administration and Assembly Auditorium of St Francis of Assisi Senior High School.

The Regional Minister after his interaction with staff of the Assembly Secretariat, visited the School to appreciate the real situation on the ground. He engaged the Headmistress and promised to take steps to address the situation.

Three (3) months after, Hon. Nicholas Soyiri who was Special Guest of honor at this year carols night celebration of the school, announced that, he has collaborated with Regional Minister to secure funding to rehabilitate the auditorium.

He said the project has been awarded and a contractor is expected to move to site soonest.

According to Hon. Nicholas Soyiri, the project is one of Ghana @50 projects which procurement process started in 2007 but NPP Kuffour led administration lost power and it has since been in a very bad state.

The contractor did a shoddy work and failed to properly handover but because of the urgent need for school administration and students to use the auditorium it forced them to occupy the facility.

Several calls were made to leadership over the years to get the contractor back to site to complete works, but no positive responds were received until recent Hon. Nicholas Soyiri appealed to Hon Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih produced the much awaited good news for the School.

The auditorium in it’s current stage has serious structural defects and leakages during raining season, displacing staff and students and greatly affects academic activities.

Hon. Nicholas Soyiri sincerely thanked the Regional Minister for his relentless efforts and Government for the gesture and believed when rehabilitation works completed it will boost academic activities of the school.
