A Photo Journalist, Ayamga Bawa Fatawu has uncovered the setbacks in producing Yam and how people are drawing back from the farming practice.

Mr.Tia Nurideen and his brother Tia Braimah working in their yam field in Pieng Community in the Sisaala East Municipal of the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Raising yam mounds is very tedious and time breaking and hence, only a few farmers engage in its production.
The field hosts about 3,590 tubers of yam and comprises Boko, Nanator, and water yam species of yam.

Planting started in December 2022 and would be ready for consumption in September.

Produce is locally sold and some are sold in Burkina Faso.
