
International Mother’s Day: Motherhood is a Blessing; Khalida M. A. Seidu Celebrates with Mothers!
The distinguished Deputy Upper West Regional Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress Khalida M. A. Seidu celebrate Mother’s Day with mothers and friends in Wa. The event which was celebrated in recognition of mothers’ contribution to procreation, life and care giving of children and families brought together various personalities. The participants include; NDC market women, John & Jane Ladies, Sankofa Women, Taribasum women, Fongu women, Sungbawiara women, Jahan women and Tampaalipaani women. Other distinguished personalities were; Hajia Afusata (Retired Director of Education), Hajia Alima (Manageress, Workers Credit Union), and Hajia Afisata (Headmistress of Islamic Girls Senior High School). There were also mothers from the Christian community, the Islam fraternity, political parties and noticeable social groups in the Upper West Region.
It is refreshing to note that invited guests and mothers were treated to fine tune which was a redemption of highlife, classic and gospel. There was a variety of delicacies for mothers to feast and dance. As part of increasing mothers’ awareness of health-related issues.
The event planner Khalida M. A. Seidu invited a Public Health Specialist Mr. Alhassan Asaana Mustapha to share his experience on health and wellness. Speaking on stress and stress management, the public Health specialist cautioned mothers to avoid the intake of alcohol and drug abuse as a way of setting their minds off a compelling situation that is putting them in a state of depression which results in stress. He further admonished mothers not to be too isolated and resign themselves into deep thinking. Mr. Mustapha emphasized that women or mothers sitting alone in a moody state always, lost in taught and deep thinking are some possible causes of stress.
In her address to mothers Khalida M. A. Seidu expressed satisfaction of the respect and honour they have showed towards her. She particularly stressed that motherhood is a blessing and justify why there is the need to celebrate mothers not just as an annual event, rather every day.
Khalida M.A. Seidu had this to say.…. motherhood is a blessing, no child can pay the sacrifices and toil of her mother and so it is important we show gratitude to every mother; our mothers clean us, feed us, provide security and always our number one fan; we cannot undermine mothers’ efforts in giving us life. I am a mother and I feel what motherhood is all about. She concluded.
In touting the contributions to women in home keeping, politics, governance and development; she emphasized the standard set by many including Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang; an astute academician and politician whose legacies are unmatched. She believes women represent hope for Ghana and Prof. Nana Opoku Agyemang could still be a good bed to pairing with President John Mahama to win the election for the great National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ghana.
Khalida M. A. Seidu further admonished mothers to vote for change come 2024 election considering the underperformance of the New Patriotic Party.
She held the view that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under his excellency former President John Dramani Mahama will make a significant difference in his second coming.
The reforms made by the president in his first time given women, children and social protection will equally receive a priority. She added.
