The victims were rushed to Hain Polyclinic where they were admitted and given treatment.
The suspect reportedly went into hiding after commiting the crime but conscious efforts by community members and the police led to his apprehension to assist investigation.
Reason for this inhumane act by Aliu Bandie is not clear but it is alleged that the victims who went into the bush that fateful morning to gather sheanuts fruits and nuts saw cattle on their farm “destroying” them (sheanuts and fruits).
Credible sources say the attempt by the women to chase away the cattle and stop them from destroying their “cocoa” got the Fulani headsman infuriated who allegedly butchered them mercilessly.
Aliu Bandie is expected to reappear in court on Tuesday 6th June, 2023.
Meanwhile, some residents have called on authorities in the Municipality to wake up and call the Fulani herdsmen in Jirapa to order. According to them, this is important to avoid any possible clash between them and some Fulani headsmen they described as “wicked and heartless”.
One resident recalled that a similar incident was recorded in Sabuli when a Fulani herdsman allegedly butchered a school girl when she attempted to avoid her vegetables (baobab leaves) from being eaten by cattle.
“Some of these Fulani herdsmen are very wicked and act as if they don’t have hearts at all. You would find some of them deliberately drive their cattle into your crops and when you complain, they threaten to harm you. Why must we be slaves in our land? ” Another resident lamented.
