A Former NPP Constituency Chairman of Nadowli-Kaleo, Mr. Martin Andonye has revealed that he had interest in becoming the next Parliamentary Candidate for his constituency till some issues came up. He had intentions to Win the seat of Nadowli-Kaleo for the New Patriotic Party.

Speaking to Upper West Media Team on the 17th of September 2023, he indicated that there was one reason he changed his mind and that reason was that he has much respect for the current constituency chairman, after had heard the constituency chairman had interest in the position, he opted to rally bend Mr. Kambotuu Xavier instead of competing with him.

“… I wanted to Contest for the Parliamentary Candidature, I had that ambition together with some close relatives of mine but we decided to step down for Kombatuu as our Constituency Secretary, he is a respected person in the party..”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has significant number of Votes comparing 2016 and 2020 election Results of the Constituency, in 2016, the Party’s Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Elvis Banoemuleng Botaa Polled 9,154 equivalent to 31.88% of total valid votes and Polled 7,664 representing 21.24% of Total Votes in the 2020 Elections a decline of 1490 Votes in four years.

Mr. Martin Andonye after declaring support for Mr. Kambotuu Xavier indicated that in 2012 Mr. Boye Bandi, a former Parliamentary Candidate who was succeeded by Elvis Botaa, was selected without any internal Elections conducted, he explained that choosing a candidate without Election, helps to unite the party devoid of grudges amongst party members.
