The Upper West Regional Division of Ghana Immigration Service has debunked claims that some terrorists have besieged towns in Sissala West.

In an Engagement with Some Journalists, ASP Ibn Yussif Duranah Abdul-Mumin Seidu, Upper West Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Immigration Service made the development known.

“Misinformation is even better than disinformation.
Where is it read with certainty that there are terrorists hiding in SISSALA WEST DISTRICT?
We can do better!”

There were some wild rumors going round that some armed foreigners have besieged communities in the Sissala Areas.

SUSPECTED TERRORISTS IN FATCHU (SISSALA WEST DISTRICT)

Sir, at about 1145hrs today; 27th September, 2023, the command gathered information that some persons suspected to be terrorists might have entered Ghana through Fatchu, a community in the Sissala West District.

This occurred when Police in Burkina Faso received intelligence about the suspected terrorist in a hideout (Burkina Faso) near Fatchu( Ghana) and immediately moved in to acoust them but they bolted even before the police arrived at their hide.

However, a Ghanaian voter ID card, two (2) mobile phones, unspecified number of ammunitions , clothings , eight bicycles among others were found at their hideout.

A search into their phones revealed pictures of men dressed in terrorist regalia of which one young man of about forty (40) years bears the same resemblance as the picture on the Ghanaian voter ID card.

The police in Burkina Faso have identified the person with the Ghanaian voter I D card ABDULAI IBRAHIM as DIALLO NOUFOU; a suspected terrorist.

The security services in Gwollu have been notified of this development and tare currently conducting patrols intermittently in and around Fatchu.

The command is closely monitoring the situation and any further development would be communicated accordingly.
