On Thursday 5th of October 2023, There were reports that the MCE Responsible for Nandom Municipality, Mr. Raymond Nero Verbally Assaulted the NDC Constituency Chairman of the Area over Vote Transfers the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Was attempting to make.
This Development generates some significant Level of Misconceptions within the Constituency and at the Regional Level. The Regional Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress headed by Issah Kantagyere Bonsingmwine Expressed Concern About the Attempt to Transfer voters from elsewhere into the Database of Nandom Constituency.

The New Patriotic Party has also Issued a Statement to that Effect and the Statement Reads:
RE: PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY THE UPPER WEST REGIONAL
SECRETARIAT OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) ON VOTES TRANSFER/REPLACEMENT EXERCISE AND MATTERS ARISING IN THE
NANDOM CONSTITUENCY, 06/10/2023.
1. We, the Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nandom are appalled by a press address from the Upper West Regional Secretariat of the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) on Votes Transfer/Replacement Exercise and related matters in the Nandom Constituency and wish to respond accordingly.
2. The allegations contained in their Press statement are baseless, unfounded, and riddled
with factual inaccuracies aimed at casting a slur on the rather peaceful and transparent electoral process taking place in Nandom. We condemn in no uncertain terms these
unfortunate allegations by the NDC, who cannot stand up to the mobilization capacity of
the NPP in the registration process and making attempts to heighten tension in our municipality. For the records, the recent registration exercise has been extremely peaceful and successful and 2264 new registrants have been added to the electoral register.
The unparalleled mobilization effort by the New Patriotic Party to facilitate the registration and transfer of eligible voters to the constituency is what could have provoked this kneejerk and defeatist presser from our brothers on the other side.
3. We in the NPP in Nandom, wish to assure all Ghanaians that the ideals and cherished Values of the New Patriotic Party of which the rule of law is supreme are not lost on us.
We state unequivocally that, the leadership of the NPP in the Nandom Constituency has at no point sponsored, facilitated, instigated, or induced non-natives or non-residents and ineligible voters for votes transfer in the ongoing exercise being conducted by the Electoral Commission in Nandom.
The Constitutional instrument governing the limited Voter registration exercise, Regulations 2016- CI 91 as amended by C I 126 is clear on the eligibility criteria of registrants, and at no point shall we depart from that. For all
intent and Purpose, the sanctity of the voter register means more to us as a Political Party in government than any other Political Party and that is why certain institutional reforms
based on the advocacy of the party have undergirded the registration process. Therefore, allegations and conjectures of an attempted compromise of the sanctity of the Voters Register in the constituency by the NPP should be disregarded and discarded.
4. On the specific allegations made against the Municipal Chief Executive of Nandom; Hon. Raymond Nero, it is important to put on record that, the Hon MCE who doubles as the
Head of the Municipal Security Council did not engage in verbal exchanges with anyone at the registration center. However, as part of his routine visits to the registration center, he engaged party agents/executives on random issues while the Electoral Commission based on its regulations and guidelines ensured the transfer process was unimpeded
irrespective of the conduct of some NDC executives led by the constituency chairman, Mr. Philemon Wein.
5. It is distasteful and completely outrageous for a responsible regional secretariate to engage in this idle PR and full disclosure of details of eligible voters for ridicule and
victimization. This height of contempt and insensitivity exhibited in the presser by the
regional secretariat is the level of irresponsibility we are dealing with. We as a responsible political party find this an unfortunate development and are calling out our friends on the other divide to abort this with immediate effect.
6. We add that the Member of Parliament and Minister of the Interior, AMBROSE DERY
(MP), who won convincingly in the last election has no cause to compel the transfer of non-eligible voters to the constituency as alleged. It is our submission that individuals
and groups who have voluntarily organized themselves for voter transfer in the constituency by whatever means are not a basis for disqualification except they fall short
of the eligibility criteria as determined by the regulations. Fortunately, the regulations have made room for complaints and the resolution of the same of which we as a party
have always availed ourselves to the due process of the law.
7. Also, it is factually inaccurate that AMBROSE DERY (MP) and the NPP brought in some (6) six Burkinabes to be registered and whose identities were challenged and subsequently disqualified by the District Registration Review Committee (DRRC). The
facts as contained in the District Registration Review Committee reports which can be made available to the press indicate that a total number of 85 challenged forms were
filled. All were cleared by the DRRC except for 9. Out of the 9 people disqualified, 7 were under age and 2 were deemed non-citizens of Ghana. It is therefore not true that 6 people were disqualified because they were not citizens of Ghana. It is not for nothing the framers of the Constitution considered sound mind as an eligibility criterion for voters.
Therefore, we find it insulting for the NDC to belittle the soundness of these voters in making individual decisions.
8. That said, we wish to state FORCEFULLY that the allegations of busing non-natives and
non-residents for vote transfer are unfounded and untrue. We are aware this set-up by the NDC is to discourage natives who are making efforts to transfer their votes to Nandom.
However, the NPP Nandom will not allow and subscribe to the outlandish and brazen attempt by the NDC to frustrate and intimidate eligible voters who meet the requirements and want to transfer their votes to the Nandom in the exercise of their fundamental right guaranteed by the constitution.
9. In conclusion, we entreat all well-meaning Ghanaians especially the people of Nandom to ignore and treat with the greatest contempt the propaganda press statement from these NDC functionaries who are threatened by the activities of a more vibrant and active NPP side as we look forward to their inevitable defeat in 2024.
LONG LIVE GHANA
LONG LIVE THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY
