Dr. Sandaare, MP For Dafiama-Busie-Issa Assessing Roads

The Member of Parliament has Today, 11th of October 2023 Narrated his ordeal as to the state of roads in the Dafiama-Bussie-Issa District after some natural disasters occured in 2021. Dr. Sebastian Sandare’s Statement is as follows.

Yesterday, I went on an inspection tour particularly, to update myself on the extent of the suffering of my people resulting from the abandonment a road that was washed away as far back as 2021 . The 2021 flood disaster washed away several roads in the Upper West Region including some critical roads in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa.

You may recall that I led a press conference by the Upper West Caucus of the Members of Parliament, calling on the government to give immediate attention to the situation. Again later, in 2021, I filed an urgent question in parliament, asking to know what immediate steps were being taken to fix the Daffiama-Sanwie road and others. The Minister promised that, the predicament would be tackled within two weeks.

As we speak, the corridor of the Daffiama-Sanwie road, a major road linking DBI and Jirapa Municipal, has been left unattended to, leaving the people in extreme difficulties to accessing health, education, markets and many others.

I have since been following up, through the ministry, feeder roads etc to draw the attention of government.

Sad to note that the Jirapa portion of the road is being worked on leaving out the portion of DBI.

The latest visit to the site is to enable me continue to advocate for government to come to the aid of the people. The road has been further deteriorated cutting off some constituents.
