A Popular Radio Station in the Sissala East Municipality, Radford FM has raised a Topic on the possibility of Sissala Area Getting a New Region out of Upper West Region and Upper East Region.

The Sissala people are said to have been originated from different tribes and clans in the Northern part of Ghana and southern Burkina Faso to settle in their area today.

It is believed that they are mostly from Gonjaland, the three Mole-Dagbani people, namely the Mossi, Mamprusi and Dagomba.

In the Statement published on 11th October 2023, the Rural Media House managed by Balu Mohammed Suggested the region is called Sissala Kassana Region, a Development that has sparked Series of Debates.

The Upper West Region and Upper East Region were carved out of Upper Region in 1983 by Late Flt Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings.

“How about asking for another region carved out of the Upper West and the Upper East region, the case of the Sissala/Kassana  region, What do you think?”

Reactions

Fuseini Stephen Asangpe Awiniboya Suggested the Region should rather bear the Name of Kassena instead of The Proposed ”SissalaKassana” Region.

“It should be the Kassena Region”
Mr. Ibrahim Dintie, a contributor suggested the Sissala Area needs a region on its own.
“I think the sissalas need a region on their own.”
Mr. Bio Abubakar agreed with the Suggestions posed by Radford FM.
