Azumah Resources Limited

Mr Solomon Dery, Senior Community Relations Officer of Azumah Resources Ghana Limited, has identified misconceptions about the company’s operations in the Upper West Region as a major challenge.

According to him many people believe that the gold mining company operates without any benefit to the surrounding communities.

However, Mr. Dery clarified that the company’s Community Relations Department is always available to address any concerns from the public.

He also emphasized that the company had not yet begun commercial mining in the region and had to undergo various government certification processes before starting.

Mr Solomon Dery spoke to Info Radio in Nadowli during the 4th Edition of Azumah Resources Ghana Limited Volleyball Tournament.

“For a regulated mining company like us we have to go through a lot of government certification or processes before you can go into mining.

So we are doing the engagement just to cure that kind of misconception and to let people understand that this is how mining is done from exploration stage into mining,” he added.

Mr. Dery further explained that the company had secured a mining lease and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) permit to start mining construction at Kunchebekpong and Julie in the Nadowli-Kaleo and Wa East Districts.

“What is outstanding now is management working around the clock to finalize funding arrangements and as soon as they are able to secure that funding arrangement, you will see something happening on site for the two flagship deposits that we have been able to discover,” Mr Dery explained.
