The Municipal Chief Executive of Jirapa in the Upper West Region, Lawyer Nicholas Soyiri has refuted claims that he physically Assaulted a former constituency secretary during a heated debate ahead of the NPP Parliamentary Primaries held on the 2nd of December 2023.

It can be recalled that the MCE was discussed by some radio stations including Radio Waa, Home Radio for slapping a former constituency secretary at an election ground.

“Infact I must congratulate Hajia Ayisha for the victory, before I say anything further, I wish to out this on record that I have seen some media reports alleging that I assaulted a former constituency secretary, please, I want to say it here and then that I never assaulted a former constituency secretary..”

He urged media houses behind the reports to desist from peddling falsehood

“…Those media houses peddling falsehood, I beg you, desist from such practices, it is not right to publish falsehood in such a manner, my brother the former constituency secretary is here you can ask him if indeed he was assaulted by me, such reports are unhealthy, thank you..”
