Health Center

Lawyer Speratus Mwinseng Ongoh, Parent Teacher Association Chairman (PTA)) has on behalf of the association handed over an ultra-modern Health Centre to the St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary, Wa.

Speaking at a short ceremony to mark the occasion, Lawyer Speratus stated that the accomplishment was another milestone in the collaboration between the Parent-Teacher Association and the School. He indicated that the project was a topmost priority of the Association as the parents noticed a health gap experienced by the school during the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

“Most of our children contracted the Coronavirus but the school had no facility to quarantine or isolate them when it was needed most to do so as the dormitories became the isolation centers thereby exposing more of the children to the Coronavirus”

He was positive that, the Three Hundred Thousand Health Center which is a package to the school as it celebrates its 60th anniversary has come to cover the health gap earlier detected. Speaking to the support of the Parent Teacher Association the Chairman, again stated that the Association has absorbed the payment of salaries of some teaching and non-teaching staff, provided transport to the school, and provided urinary and toilet facilities amongst others.

Lawyer Speratus urged Non-Governmental organizations, the Old Boys association, and the government to contribute enormously to building a better educational system for the school.

On her part, Executive Director Diocesan Health Service Wa, Reverend sister Juliana Lamisi Akayet paid glowing tributes to the Parent Teacher Association for their kind gesture describing the donation as timely and adding that the facility will be opened for the use of the general public too.

Reverend Juliana was optimistic that with the right staff and equipment, the Health Centre would soon be upgraded to a polyclinic. She therefore appealed to the Ghana Health Service as well as the old boys association of the school to help in that regard.
