The parliamentary Candidate elected for the NPP in the Jirapa constituency, Hajia Aisha Salifu has described her victory in the primaries as a victory for the constituency. This was part of his remarks while addressing delegates and supporters of the party at the St. Augustine JHS premise where the elections were conducted.
Out of a total of 705 delegates, 702 turned out on the 2nd of December to choose between the Municipal Chief Executive, Lawyer Nicholas Soyiri, and a deputy CEO at the Zongo Development Authority, Hajia Aisha Salifu to lead the party as parliamentary candidate into the general elections in December next year.
The contest resulted in a seven-rejected ballot record whiles Hajia Aisha pulled 364 votes against 331 votes for Hon. Nicholas Soyiri amidst jubilations.
However, the issue of vote buying could not be ruled out as Tricycles were seen on display at the venue at 8:18 am. Radio Waa’s findings indicate, that there are promises for every electoral area should the Deputy CEO win the primaries.
After the declarations of results, Hajia Aisha Salifu used the occasion to congratulate the MCE for contesting in the primaries stating that they embarked on a clean campaign and that the dream of bringing Jirapa to the state it deserves has begun.
She however said the real contest is with the NDC come 2024. ‘‘The real enemy is the opposition out there that is doing everything wrong’’ she added.
She also called for a united front of the party to enable them to break the eight for the party come 2024 with ‘’facts and good deeds’’
