A Broadcast Journalist and Teacher currently with Radio Waa in the Upper West Region, Mr. Dennis Salia has expressed dismay after noticing the Speaker Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin Didn’t Avail himself to partake in the Assembly and Unit Committee Member Elections Held on the 19th of December 2023.

In a Statement he issued on Radio Waa’s Election Deliberation Show with Mustapha Jakpa, Mr. Dennis Salia Stated:

“You’re Aware I vote at the Same Station with Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, he didn’t avail himself to partake in the voting exercise, I am a patriotic citizen, not like the Speaker of Parliament, I spent money on fuel to travel all the way there(Sombo) to vote, anything we have to do as a nation, usually I try participating in it, I traveled from Wa To Sombo to Vote and observe developments at the polling station, the total voter population of where I vote is 471..”.

The Assembly Member Elections were held in all parts of Ghana including the Upper West Region and some incumbent Assembly Members lost their Positions in Areas including Wa Municipality and Nadowli-Kaleo District.

In Sissala East, Verification Devices Failed to function and it was blamed on the Cold weather of Tumu and it’s environments Also Goli, a community in Wa Municipality, Some Chiefs were accused of interfering in Candidacy of some Aspirants and voting processes.
Assembly Members for Wa Sombo Electoral Area Mr Abubakari Seidu and Jingu Electoral Area Hon. Nuhu Abdul Wahab went Unopposed. The Presiding Member for Wa Assembly, Hon. Toppie Karim Stepped Down from the Race.In Nadowli-Kaleo District, A Journalist with WFM in Wa, Mr. Alexis Anzagira was Elected as Assembly Member for Takpo Tuori Electoral Area.
