Mr. Anthony Karbo, Former Deputy Roads Minister

The political season is here again, the new Patriotic Party conducted their Parliamentary Primaries for Orphan Constituencies on the 2nd of December 2023 and in Lawra Constituency, The Incumbent MCE was elected as Parliamentary candidate, Mr. Jacob Domekakpier Dery was part of two other MMDCEs to have won the Primaries, the others included DCE for Dafiama-Bussie-Issa District Mr. Nadi Sanda Imoro and DCE for Wa East District, Dr. Ewurah Suleman Kandia.

Three MMDCES did not contest and they are, DCE for Lambussie, Mr Naluri George, MCE for Sissala East, Mr. Fuseini Batong and MCE for Nandom, Mr. Raymond Nero.

Mr. Anthony Karbo was elected as Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency in December 2016, He was Made Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways for President Akufo-Addo’s first Term, before the elections he pledged to construct and commission Lawra’s Dikpe bridge linking Lawra to neighboring Burkina Faso for business but was unable to fulfill the pledge, he was however able to fix some roads in the area.

The Deputy Minister for Roads and highways on Friday September 1st 2017 also held a meeting with dignitaries in his office in Accra.

The Meeting was pertaining to rural electrification in his district as a major concern to the people and himself. The 6.5MW plant was Commissioned in October 2020 by President Akufo-Addo.

In November 2020, A youth group identified as sympathizers of the Parliamentary Candidate and Lawmaker, Anthony Karbo within the Lawra Municipality have had a grudge with another function on the side of the constituency party Chairman by Name Alhaji Mohammed Donkor over a pickup vehicle assigned to the chairman for party activities. He was Suspended 12 Days to the December 2020 General Elections but was reinstated after closed door decisions in August 2021 after the elections. Chairman Donkor Later Died in May 2023.

However in December 2020, Bede Ziedeng was elected as Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency on the Ticket of NDC, Defeating Anthony Karbo in the elections.

In December 2023, Anthony Karbo declined picking forms to contest in the NPP Parliamentary Primaries. This means he will not be contesting in the December 2024 General Elections.

Mr. Anthony Karbo moved to his place of Residence in Accra After the Elections and is currently out of the country.
