In a momentous celebration marking the 10th anniversary of Sungmaale FM, a local radio station in Wa, the Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Joyce Bawah Mogtari, graced the occasion as the keynote speaker. The event, held on January 13, 2024, saw Hon. Joyce addressing the gathering on the theme, “Impact of Media to Sociopolitical and Cultural Development in our community.”
Joyce Bawah, acknowledged for her distinguished roles as a mother, lawyer, wife, and aide to the incoming president, covered various topics in her speech. She emphasized the media’s crucial role in shaping society, expressed concern about corruption, highlighted the culture of silence in the media, and addressed the current hardships faced by Ghanaians. Additionally, she passionately advocated for the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy concept, attributing potential benefits such as job creation for the youth, transforming Ghana into a net exporter, and providing incentives for businesses.
During the ceremony, Hon. Joyce was presented with a citation in recognition of her exceptional leadership. Accompanying her were prominent figures within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including Regional Vice Chairman Kwame Mumuni, Regional Women Organizer Prisca Domenyevi Kuupol, and others.
In a display of compassion, after the event, Hon. Joyce Bawah Mogtari visited two orphanages within the Wa Municipality. At each orphanage, she generously donated essential items, including rice, tin tomatoes, sugar, soap, soft drinks, and cooking oil, among others. The orphanages, Home of Light Islamic Orphanage and Child Support Ghana, expressed gratitude for the donations, and special prayers were offered for Hon. Joyce.
At the Home of Light Islamic Orphanage, Sheikh Ahmed Yaakub conveyed appreciation for the kind gesture, citing Quranic verses that emphasize the blessings bestowed upon those who support orphans. Meanwhile, at Child Support Ghana, students sang praises for Hon. Joyce and offered special prayers for her, her family, and the NDC to come to power.
Her benevolent donations included 10 bags of rice (25kg), 4 bags (50kg) of sugar, 10 cartons of frytol cooking oil, 10 cartons of tin tomatoes, 12 cartons of soft drinks, 20 bags of sachet water, 10 boxes each of key soap, Jama bar soap, and Bienco soap, as well as 5 cartons of toilet rolls. Cooked meals were also served.
The entire event showcased Hon. Joyce Bawah Mogtari’s commitment to both celebrating community milestones and contributing to the welfare of vulnerable groups, further underlining her multifaceted leadership and advocacy.
