Assembly Member for Manwe Electoral Area Hon. Adams Iddrisu expressed worry with the intrusion of Military Men into their community without explained reasons.

Speaking to Upper West Media Team on The 25th of January 2024, he indicated that the Armed Military Men blew some warning shots to scare road users away after he approached them them to know their purpose in the community.

He added that this bike was seized alongside others and he was compelled to contact the District Chief Executive, Dr. Ewurah Suleman Kandia who Assured them that the situation was under control.

He added that efforts were made to speak with the Area’s Paramount Chief, Naa Abubakari Wiah who also Assured them that everything was going to be fine.

“..at the moment military has invaded the community, it Started at 1pm and as we speak they are still in the community, they came and were seizing motorbikes, i tried to get in touch with them and i met two of them, the operation is taking place in the community getting to the Goripie direction, when i approached them they told me they can’t speak to me that their boss is not around but he later came and was giving commands that we should leave the scene that at the count of three we should leave but when we were still around he below a warning shot, i don’t have an idea about why it happened, when that happened i made a call to my honorable DCE and he said i should calm my people down that he is trying to solve it, i also called my Paramount Chief Naa Yussif Wiah.”

A farming community in the Wa East District by name Manwe has been Taken over by Armed Military Men.

The Incident Occured at 1pm, 25th January 2024 within the Township. Several Motorbikes of civilians were seized whilst warning shot was blown to scare raiders.
