This week has witnessed the discussion mostly on social media and the mainstream media of two amazing women of Sissala descent whose stories are mouthful.
Moesha Buduong, with a Facebook following of about 40,000, is a socialite who gained national attention with gigs with celebrities, fashion craze, and the recent interview with Cynthia Amanpour of CNN where she was sampled among many African women where she said the economy was hard and women needed to sleep with married men to make ends meet.
Her brother, Ebito Buduong, made a public request to extend support to Moesha’ over her health condition and said”
“Ebito Bodoung, brother of Ghanaian socialite Moesha Bodoung, has announced that his sister has suffered a stroke. He has started a fundraising campaign online on GoFundMe which was created on January 22, 2024, his celebrity sister and the link, if you may support; https://gofund.me/8d763b0c
In an accompanying statement on the fundraiser, Ebito indicates that Moesha’s condition has affected her ability to move and talk.
He is therefore requesting that the public assists him in footing bills incurred as a result of Moesha’s sickness”
This was received with mixed reactions as others close to her felt terrible and immediately began to contribute their widow’s mite. There have been others who have gone all out hitting hard at her and probably blaming her situation on her life choices, however, we all must do what we can to help her recover at the moment.
At Sakai in the Sissala East, 20 20-minute drive from Tumu, many stroke patients have been healed and reintegrated into society. You may try that option.
Noela Wiyaala has a Facebook following of about 543,000 from across the globe with genres in Afro-pop music that have hit the World chart apart from winning awards nationally in Ghana.
A stunning musician who took the World by storm, especially the global corporate community who get turned on by her melodic voice was in the week discussed heavily after she posted a picture of her swimming costume much like a red lingerie she had swam with which found others tongue wagging ostensibly due to its color or looks. The criticism got to her person to the extent that her Facebook page called their bluff and responded ” I will wear what I like the beach River or Pool, Dont try me, don’t even dare me”
Both ladies have enjoyed some appreciable popularity much of which influences their followers both positive and negative, far and near, and the reason both issues assumed the dimension we are witnessing. Whether one comes from Bilaw in the Lambussie District where Moesha Budoung recently visited to share with her community school some goodies, that of Noella Wiyaala; the lioness of Africa from Finsi in the Wa East is massive, given the attention and the spotlight that Funsi and the Upper West has enjoyed from her creative prowess in the global music arena. The BBC World Service recently visited Funsi because of Wiyaala.
Lifestyles therefore of persons in the creative arts should be theirs, but at what point does it become a border to the rest of society as in the case of Moesha and Wiyaala? In any way, both are our sisters, daughters, and above all humans who can be fallible and should be guided by the adage not to throw the baby away with the bad water.
