It can be recalled that a Former Assembly Member of Jirapa Kunkyene was Assassinated in Savannah Region in May 2022 whilst on his way to Jirapa in the Upper West Region.

His Death was a big blow to the Upper West Region and several assurances were given that the perpetuators will be brought to book, before the lawyer’s death he had issued some statements on Facebook that marked suspicion that he was afraid for his life and felt insecure.

He was buried in his hometown Observed by the Ghana Bar Association and investigations begun since then.

It’s almost two years and no arrests had been made in connection to his death.

Mr. Eric Johnson close to two years after has also gone through a similar ordeal and has been assassinated in his room, the unfortunate incident occured on Saturday 10th February 2024, on the 11th of February, five people were arrested by the Ghana Poloce Service to Assist with investigations. His body has been deposited at the Upper West Regional Hospital Morgue Awaiting Autopsy.

Meanwhile Several people are of the opinion that His Death Could have been avoided if some significant arrests and prosecution was made when Lawyer Richard Badombie Was Assassinated.

State Security are still on the Issue to bring the perpetuators to book.

Lawyer Badombie’ Murder

A lawyer, on Saturday 28th May 2022, was attacked and shot dead by armed robbers on the Bole-Bamboi Highway in the Savannah Region.

His Funeral was held on the 9th of July 2022 at Kunchene in Jirapa.

The deceased has been identified as Accra-based lawyer, Richard Badombie.

The Ghana Police Service in a statement said that the victim was driving a Hyundai Accent saloon car with two other passengers on board, travelling from Accra to Jirapa, when the incident occurred.

“When they got to a section of the road between Banda Nkwanta and Nuoyiri communities, three armed men emerged from the bush and signaled them to stop, and while slowing down, one of the robbers shot and killed the driver(the lawyer),” it said.

The statement said the police have mounted a manhunt for the three suspected armed robbers and asked members of Banda Nkwanta and Nuoyiri to assist the police with relevant information that could lead to the identity and arrest of the suspects.

“We will do whatever it takes to get these miscreants arrested and brought to justice,” the police said.
