Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies were inaugurated today as directed by the Local Government Ministry headed by Mr. Dan Botwe.

In the Jirapa Municipality, Voting Took place to elect a Presiding Member for the Assembly before business can Officially Begin.

Hon. Benedict Ninfaazuma of Piiyiri Electoral Area has been confirmed as the PM for Jirapa Municipal Assembly.

In the first round of voting, he polled 24 out of 53 votes. His two competitors, Hon. James Dery and Hon. Cornelius Nobapuo got 20 and 9 votes respectively.

In the second round of voting, he enjoyed 46 YES votes. Seven (7) assembly members voted NO against him.

He takes over from Hon. Ebenezer Ayemah of Vingving who has honourably bowed out of the Assembly, after serving for two terms.
