A statement issued by the Jirapa Municipal Youth Association on the assassination of Eric Johnson
PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, all protocols have been observed. On Sunday, February 11, 2024, we woke up to the chilling news of the gruesome murder of our beloved father, brother, uncle, son, friend, and great mentor, the late Mr. Eric Johnson, the owner and CEO of the Royal Cozy Hills Hotel, popularly known as Jirapa Dubai. He was affectionately called “Bundle Man.”.
Mr. Johnson was a business magnate, a philanthropist, an epitome of humility, and a true patriot who put Jirapa and the entire Upper West Region on the national and global map. His philanthropic work created a vibrant local economy and touched many hearts and souls. He was our pride, and his cold-blood murder is heartbreaking. Words and tears alone cannot express our pain and the harm his untimely death has caused us.
We, the youth of Jirapa, condemn the brutal and cruel murder of our brother and uncle in no uncertain terms. By this dastardly act, they have taken Jirapa 50 years back. His demise is devastating, especially to the youth, as he was our inspiration, mentor, and hope. The murderers have pierced a dagger through our hearts!
The Youth of Jirapa appreciate the swift response of The Ghana Police Service and the entire national security apparatus. With utmost humility, we urge them to speed up, deepen their
investigations, and bring the perpetrators to justice. The youth are on standby and ready to support in whatever way is deemed necessary. We also call on the Elders and Tendaama to intervene.
The Youth of the Jirapa Municipality want to affirm our trust and support for the ongoing investigations. Again, we pledge to stay calm and urge people, especially our friends from the media, to stop the speculations and allow the security services to do their work. We understand our brother is a global figure with a vast business interest, and the perpetrators could have come from far and near.
On behalf of the JMYA, I thank you all for your sympathy. We know the entire country is in mourning with us, and we wholeheartedly appreciate you. To our friends from the media present and all those listening via other online platforms, we say thank you!
