Here’s a continuation of our story. Keep your comments coming. Share if you care.#Orature #storytelling #tradition #culture #poetry When Tombo moved out of the palace, his horse, which was staked to the giant ackeeapple tree, was waiting patiently on him. The horse neighed enthusiastically 🐎 and fly-whisked its tail in readiness as Tombo jumped on its back. It’s name was Yornhupielaa (White Horse). The horse ran as though it had wings and will fly. It run as though it would never stop. It ran as one possessed. But in no time, Tombo got back to his palace. From afar, his palace guards could hear the gallop of horses. It was as though it was a strong army of charriots set for battle array. So, in readiness, these guards also strengthed their bond. One of them climbed a coconut tree to have a clearer view on who these horsemen were and what their mission was. But they were surprised to know it was only one man, and even more relieving, that it was their own messenger, Tombo. His king and his cabinet were already seated awaiting his arrival and what news he bore for them. As Tombo got into the inner chamber where the king and his cabinet sat, he fell exhaustively at the feet of the king. Some guards attended to him. He got up and sat, breathing slowly and heavily. The king’s cupbearer gave him honeycomb and some wild fruits. He ate it and it worked like magic.
His eyes shined with new light and he looked revived. He spoke audibly.”My King, may your reign be forever. I thank you all, my elders. I bear news; the people of Yobangzie Kingdom received me well. I told them what message I carried from your majesty: We know your kingdom is built on stolen wealth. But that your land now breeds harlots and bedsharers is a thing so despicable and unheard of!But after my message, they almost detained me. In the end, they said my message was offensive but that they will deliberate on the message and not the messenger. So they granted me leave” Tombo narrated. The king spoke, saying; “The people of Yobangzie have bitten more than they can chew.
The slow movement of the lion should not be mistaken for cowardice but masterminded bravery! We know what next to do. I have spoken.”He hit the wild buffalo horn he was holding on his chest and paced to and fro. He stopped and faced the elders and spoke; “My elders, we’ll reconvene. For now, take your leave. Go in peace”They all left the palace.
