SITUATIONAL REPORT ON AN OUTBREAK OF FIRE AT SUKE MARKET OF THE LAMBUSSIE DISTRICT ON THE 7TH OF APRIL, 2024.

At about 11 am on Sunday the 7th of April there was a very sad development in the Suke community where a full compound house that belong to one Mr. Adama Saaberzaa Pulubar Gorden that contained 14 rooms was total burned to ashes including a store room making the total number of rooms affected to be 15 rooms.

According the preliminary briefings from the zonal officer, the residents of the area only got to know about the fire when it was already ravaging at higher levels.

This he attributed to the fact it was the community market day and as such everybody staying in the said building were all at the market square with only three children left behind in the building. He has also said that the cause of the fire is attributed to electrical fault. His claims were based on the fact that there a power outage in the area before the incidence and when power was restored it didn’t take long before the incidence started.

He said the fire service got to the place late when every energy from the residence around was all gone.
According to the zonal officer, the total number of victims affected by the fire was 27 persons made up of 7 adult males, 8 adult females, 5 male children and 7 female children.

He added that the estimated cost of damage is very huge as the fire burnt down the whole building and no single property was rescued except some few bags of soya beans. He almost close to 200 bags of farm produce comprising maize, millet, g. nuts, beans and other farm produce were all total burnt to ashes. According to the zonal officer, one motorbikes was also burnt in the process.
