
Prof. Elias N.K Sowley has hinted during the University’s 5th Congregation Ceremony that the University has been selected as one of the beneficiary Institutions for the construction of a 400-bed capacity hostel building as part of the Tertiary Education Improvement Programme (TEIP) by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
The Upper West Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu through the Regional Co-ordinating Director of the RCC, Peter M. Maala indicated that he is aware of the numerous challenges confronting students and lectures on campus, particularly hotels and that of accommodation for lecturers.
“As the Regional Minister, I pledged my full support and commitment to working closely with the University administration, the relevant government agencies, and other partners to address this infrastructure challenges. Together we will explore innovative financing mechanisms, engage with private sector investors, and leverage available resources to expedite the construction of new hostels and accommodation facilities on campus”, he stated.
Despite the few successes, the University is faced with numerous challenges hindering its growth. According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, inadequate lecture halls are one of the fundamental challenges despite the introduction of Bachelor of Technology Programmes.
On the 18th of May 2024, the Dr Hilla Limann Technical University honoured 678 with the Higher National Diploma (HND) for the 2023 batch which made up of 427 males and 251 females. Out of the total number of graduates, only 41 has been conferred with first class division comprising 27 males and 14 females.
