The Member of Parliament for Jirapa Constituency, Mr. Cletus Seidu Dapilah has Issued a Statement of dismay after information from the Judicial Secretary Signaled a Transfer of Eric Johnson’s Case to Kumasi.

The court sat today 12th June 2024 and Adjourned the case to 12th July 2024 pending further directives from the Chief Justice.

We feel very sad that a matter like this will have to be played with or toiled with by the Chief Justice. And let me use this medium to let the entire world know that the people of Jirapa, for that matter, the Kumbire family of the late Eric Johnson, the youth and everybody are not happy with the manner in which the case is being handled.

Truth be told, I’m not criticizing the case, but it is… Let me commend the police service, the Ghana Police Service, for doing a very thorough investigation about this matter. I, in my layman, you know, observation, they did everything.

Monies were found, monies of Eric were stolen and they were found with accused persons. So many evidence is clear that the accused person indeed committed a murder. Late Eric Johnson wasn’t just a son of Jirapa, he was for everybody.

Eric was an international business icon. He traveled around the world, did business all over the world, did business in Ghana. If you go to his profile, internet Ghana, and read his profile, you know that this is…

So that is all that the people of Jirapa are asking for. We are not, indeed, we are not happy. We can’t be happy because we think that… the case, where they’ve done the investigations up to, the case should have been proceeded and then you know judgments should have been passed by now because we think that the lawyers or the accused person are just you know doing all these tactics to delay the case you know so even though there’s a saying that justice you know the wheels of justice goes slowly but finally it will get to its destination but I mostly don’t believe in that.

First and foremost as I said earlier it is the state attorney. If The state attorney feels that he is not capable of handling the case that the case can be transferred. If the prosecution feels that they cannot handle the case that the case can be transferred.

In this case the accused person the suspect is the one that is passionate, by which law are they coming under. They should tell us.

The crime was committed here so once the crime was committed here the case should be tried here so it’s not wrong for the lawyer of the other two accused persons to say that the case should remain here. So you can see, these are people who decided to represent the entire people of Jirapa in Court today, Many many people would have loved to be here but we just asked them to stay. We respect the law, we respect the chief Justice, we are not people who don’t respect the chief Justice. If we’re people who don’t respect the law we know what to do, we are law abiding citizens, the late Eric was a law abiding citizen, he was a business man who who did his businesses very well paid his taxes so we will not take the law into our own hands to do Anything all we are asking for is justice justice justice Eric was buried on 1st of June all we want for Eric is Justice so his soul can rest, that is all we are asking for.

well no I cannot say that there’s political influence in this. I cannot foresee Eric wasn’t a politician he was a businessman. Anyone who wants to do politics in this case, honestly they soul of Eric will not forgive this person.
