
Assembly Member for Chabogo Electoral Area, Mr. Mathew Anliebe spoke to Adil Fuseini on Tegyayela Program Tuesday, 16th July 2024 After A Man was attacked on his farm in the Lambussie District, 15th Of July 2024.
“…I received a call in the morning, that was on 15th of July that a wan and his wife were surrounded by some armed men, the woman took to her heels but heard a gunshot three times..”
According to the Assembly Member, the Deceased wife Rushed home to report the issue.
“She rushed home to report to us, I went with some youth to confirm the development, per what I saw, perpetrators of the accused a huge rock on his head and partly resulted in his death, we also realized his hands were fractured”.
The Assembly Member Drew the Attention of State Security after witnessing the situation.
“..I called the Police commander, he came with some military officers, some leftover bullets numbering six were picked from the Scene, the deceased is a farmer from Palayiri”.
The Assembly Member explained That that clash between Lagma and Dagaaba has become a common social Setback in the area.
He also recalled a time when a disabled man from his Electoral Area was assaulted on his way from a Funeral in Bule.
“.. one man was returning from a funeral in Bule, on his way he was assaulted and his bicycle was destroyed, he had to go to the hospital and also had to fill a police form for investigations to be carried out”
According to The Assembly Member, Police Officers aren’t helping in the situation.
“There was a time a civilian was shot, we called the Ambulance service to attend to the victim but the process of the police arrived and demanded to go to the police station with the civilian who was bleeding profusely together with one other person.
The sent the affected civilian to their cells and kept him behind bars without giving him medical care.
We had to agitate before police could release the Victim for treatment, even with that, he was guarded at the hospital and handcuffed whilst receiving treatment.
“The Assembly Member concluded that the Civil Unrest at Lambussie is as a result of Land disputes, he added that Some group of people directed farmers of the Dagaaba faction to pay fines to the Chief of Lambussie which included Ghc300, Fowls and Ruminants before they can be allowed to farm”.
