National Peace Council Has held a Two-Day Media Engagement in the Upper West Region to sensitize Media Personnel on Fact-Check Reporting Before, During and After the December 7th General Elections.

Some Facilitators Present including Apostle George Apasera, a Member of the Upper West Regional Peace Council, urged the media Personnel present to desist from sensational Reporting and base their Publications on Fact Checking.

He made Reference to the Rwandan Genocide during his lecture held at Sem B Lodge in Wa on the 6th of September 2024.

Mr. Mohammed Fawaz, Program Manager in Charge of Conflict Resolution and Management Highlighted on Issues of Conflicts and Conflict Resolution.

Mr. Prosper K. Kuorsoh, a Lecturer with Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) also touched on Misinformation and Disinformation.

Upper West Regional Chairman of Peace Council, Dr. Moses Banungwiiri touched on the Significance of Accurate News Reporting.”We are very much excited and thanking CRS for organizing this for us, that our headquarters, the Peace Council, the National Headquarters, we have representatives here.

We want to say thank you to our facilitators, and all those who have participated. I believe strongly that after this, we are going to make a great impact in our region, Upper West and that we have peaceful election and happy moments in this region.

That we are going to deliver exactly what we hear and bring out messages that are huge to bring peace and sanity in our region. As we leave here, we wish you all the best and God’s blessings.
