The Wa East District Assembly has been left Bare after it was discovered on Tuesday 10th September 2024 that several workers were reported to have vacated post.

This was discovered and recorded in video by Assembly Member for Funsi North Electoral Area, Hon. Mahamuda S. Yussif during a monitoring exercise at the Assembly.

The Assembly Member in a statement whilst recording the video expressed disgust with the attitude of Staff in the District especially workers of the District Assembly.

Some Offices he checked included Office of Planning Officer, finance and these Offices were locked.

“…Wa East Assembly, Shame, all places locked, No Workers, Not even the Security, abaa!, Wa East! shame..”

He also went together with some elders to check attendance register of the staff and they noticed it was almost empty.

“This is the attendance book, oh Wa East!, Shame!..”

Speaking to the District Chief Executive, Dr. Ewura Kandia Sulemana, He indicated that the Officers were out on Official Assignments.

“They should get serious and stop politicking with issues of Wa East. Remind those my colleague politicians that.

My engineers were supervising the drilling of boreholes at janebe, kongonbe. The Hon who led the so called concern NDC group should go and ask his people of the new boreholes 2. My finance officers were in Wa for workshop3. Am in accra with my director for a workshop So, let get serious together to build.

The politics can’t help any longer “

Wa East District Has been in the Media for Several Negative reasons. It can be recalled that on the 26th of April 2024, A Group of Residents Known as South Sissala Unity for Development held a Press Conference expressing their concerns about how the District is being managed after in was created 20 Years ago in 2004.

They stated several problems including Staff Absenteeism, Abandoned government projects dotted around the District including Soya Beams factory, An Incomplete Agenda 111 Project, a Neglected Electoral Area by name Duu West Disconnected from the District due to no Major Road as a result of Rivers.They also talked about the District Education office that was moved from Funsi to Wa Municipality.

According to them, their Education Office should be within the district and not in a different District. However in June 2024 a Security Man was murdered at the Wa East Education office situated in Wa and the Office was Hurriedly Moved to Bulenga, a community in the District.
