The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially approved the McCoy College of Education Astro Turf in the Nadowli Kaleo district as the new home grounds for two Division One clubs based in Wa, Wa Power Sporting Club, and Sore Nante FC.

This development comes as a major relief to both clubs, who were previously forced to travel to the North East Region to play their home matches. The move was facilitated through the efforts of the Upper West Regional Football Association (UWRFA), which successfully lobbied the GFA during its recent Congress held at Upland Hotel.

The turning point came when the Vice President of the GFA, Mr. Mark Addo, visited the McCoy College of Education facility at the request of the UWRFA. Impressed by the infrastructure, Mr. Addo acted swiftly, securing the necessary approvals for the Wa-based teams to use the Nadowli Astro Turf. This decision not only brings Division One football back to the Upper West Region but also spares Power SC and Sore Nante FC the burden of traveling long distances for their home matches, allowing them to focus more on their performance.

With the Nadowli grounds now fully operational, Wa Power SC will complete their next two away fixtures, while Sore Nante FC is set to host VC Warriors at the newly designated home ground. The Upper West football community has greeted this development with joy and excitement, as it marks a significant step forward for the sport in the region. The Upper West Regional Football Association deserves commendation for their persistent efforts in ensuring that the region once again hosts Division One football.
