Martin Waana-Ang, a former student of St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary, has been named the best student at the 2024 Call to the Bar. He received two prestigious awards which was the Mensah Sarbah Award for being the overall best student and the Best Student in Civil Procedure award.

Martin studied law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he was actively involved in student leadership as the President of the Law Students Union (LSU). He also excelled in his academics and was recognized as the second-best candidate in the 2022 Ghana School of Law entrance exams.

During his time at KNUST, Martin participated in various extracurricular activities. He worked as a legal intern at the respected Kulendi@Law and represented his faculty in different competitions. In 2021, he competed in the 30th African Human Rights Moot Court Competition and in 2022, he helped his faculty win the Baffour Osei Akoto Moot Court Competition. He was even named the best oralist during the preliminary rounds of the contest.

Martin, who hails from Jirapa in the Upper West Region of Ghana, dreams of becoming an accomplished lawyer with a focus on Constitutional Law, Oil and Gas Law, Maritime Law, Taxation and International Law. He also hopes to one day serve as a judge on Ghana’s Supreme Court.

Many Ghanaians have taken to social media to congratulate Martin on his outstanding achievements, with several expressing their pride in his success. His determination and hard work continue to inspire others in the legal field and beyond.
