A six-unit classroom block, constructed toad up to existing structures at the Nator Basic School in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region, has been left unused and left to rot.
Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) funded the building with the intention of giving a more comfortable learning environment to the students within the catchment of Nator, Buse and Kaabogu communities.

However, since 2018 when the facility was constructed, the building remained locked and unused, leading to a fast deterioration of the block with some windows and doors destroyed as it gradually became a common place for social vices.

According to the former PTA chairman Mr Yelsaangba Nosoleba the school was built there with the intention of turning it into a secondary school since there was non around the area.
“There were six blocks so we decided to isolate this with the intention of turning it into a SHS/Vocational school by then Takpo(a neighbouring community) did not have a senior high school at that time” he added.
Accessing the situation at the facility, the school building is in disrepair as the roofs are getting ripped off, and the doors and windows are damaged, with weeds taking a better part of the compound.
