A Patient was given this Sad News on Saturday, 16th November 2024 when power was taken Away by the Volta River Authority(VRA) for maintenance works.

Mr. John, a Teacher was Struggling from a Waist discomfort and needed an X-ray Examination urgently but was told the hospital had no electricity, a staff of the hospital indicated that their generators cannot power the X-Ray Machines.

“I went to the hospital with a waist pain, a discomfort I have encountered for years, I needed to treat this discomfort so I went to the Upper West Regional Hospital, I was told I needed to go for an X-ray scan but I was later told there was no electricity because VRA had taken away power.”

The Patient was charged gh₵36 but was later told to return on Monday, 18th of November 2024 for the exam.

“.. I was charged Ghc3 6 and told their generators couldn’t power the X-Ray Machine, I was directed to go home and return on Monday, imagine if it was about life and death..”.

Mr. Bipuah Mohammed, the Wa Municipal Health Promotion Officer is yet to Speak to Upper West Media Team concerning the Development.
