The Upper West Regional Chief Imam on the 21st December 2024, issued cheques to 47 tertiary students through his Educational Endowment Fund to facilitate their education.
This is the third cohort of beneficiaries of the Upper West Regional Chief Imam Educational Endowment Fund.

The Fund board secretaray (Mr. Moomin Saeed) in addressing the media, indicated that the Fund was officially inaugurated on October 13, 2022 at the Wa Technical Institute with the objective of offering scholarship opportunities to at least 50 brilliant but underprivileged students across various educational levels within the region and beyond.

The Fund has sponsored 16 and 27 brilliant and underprivileged students to pursue diverse programs at various tertiary institutions across the length and breadth of the country for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years.

The third application window of the Upper West Regional Chief Imam Educational Endowment Fund was pronounced opened at the FUND’s second annual conference held on 26th October 2024 at the Upper West Regional Library. 60 out of the 63 shortlisted applicants appeared before a Member Evaluation and Assessment Committee on a face-to-face interview. The committee after a thorough celebration and careful consideration of interview results, recommended 47 candidates as the 3rd cohort of beneficiaries for the Upper West Regional Chief Imam Educational Endowment Fund for 2024/2025 academic year.

Interestingly, the number of Christian beneficiaries has increased from two (2) to six (6) which underscores the FUND’s inclusive commitment to compassion and equity, transcending religious boundaries and fostering unity within the region.

The beneficiary communities include Limanyiri, Tagrayiri, Sokpayiri, Dobile, Tamarimuni, Dondoli, Watarayiri, Kabanye, Busa, Mangu, Kpongu, Waale Sombo, Damango, Nyoli, Lambussie, Zongo, Nandom, Kulkpong, Babile, Lawra Domwini, Jonga, Biihee, Dorimon, Yibile, Jengbeyiri, Hain, Ullo, and Kperisi.
