Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has called on Ghanaians to appreciate the crucial role journalists play in the country’s governance.
Bagbin emphasised the importance of recognising the efforts of media professionals who serve as a bridge between the government and the people.
In his Christmas message on Tuesday, bagbin noted that “We should also thank ourselves, particularly the leadership of the country, our chiefs, the clergy, the elders and more importantly our selfless servants who serve as a bridge, as a link to all of us. I mean the men and women in the media.
“They serve nobody else apart from us. Without them, we’ll be looking in darkness. We’ll not be listening to each other. But they have lubricated the wheels of governance and we need to thank them.”
He also called on Ghanaians to reflect on the 2024 general elections and work together to build a united nation.
Bagbin expressed gratitude for the peaceful outcome of the elections and urged citizens to accept the results with humility.
He emphasised the importance of self-reflection and unity, urging Ghanaians to come together and build a strong nation.
