There has been reports of Violence at an Election Review Committee Meeting at Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency in the Savannah Region.
The Meeting between Party Faithfuls of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) was intended to discuss key issues and strengthen party unity after the 2024 General Elections.

Name: Kipo Ansumah
Position: Sawla E/A Polling Station Secretary.

A meeting between party faithful, intended to discuss key issues and strengthen party unity, unfortunately ended abruptly due to chaos.
Regrettably, disagreements among party faithful escalated, leading to a breakdown in proceedings. The safety and well-being of members became a concern, prompting the premature ending of the meeting inconclusive.
The Constituency chairman, Mohammed Fuseini’s actions in organizing party foot soldiers to disrupt the meeting between members of the party and the election review committee from the national level are highly concerning. This behavior is a classic example of low-intensity electoral violence, which can undermine the democratic process and perpetuate a culture of intimidation and fear.
By disrupting the meeting, the chairman was essentially preventing the party from having an open and honest discussion about the causes of their electoral loss because the majority of the blame was hitting him directly.
This not only hinders the party’s ability to learn from its mistakes but also undermines the principles of transparency and accountability.
Furthermore, the use of party foot soldiers to disrupt the meeting is a worrying trend. These groups have been known to engage in aggressive behavior, which can escalate into violence and compromise the safety of others.
A disturbing incident reportedly occurred at the party office in Sawla during the elections review committee meeting. The Chairman slapped a party elder in front of the committee members without having respect for their presence, which is a serious breach of conduct and respect. Myself escaped a slap from same chairman for asking that the 1st Vice Chairman, James Kojo Bawelyiri to continue with his submission as he was on the floor before his guys disrupted the meeting.
As the leader of the party, the Chairman’s behavior is expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, respect, and decorum. Physical violence, especially against a party elder, is unacceptable and may damage the party’s reputation and relationships in the future if proper sanctions are not given out to serve as a scapegoat for others to be guided going forward.
In every respectable organization, respect for elders and colleagues is essential, and physical altercations are never an acceptable means of resolving conflicts. The party’s code of conduct and disciplinary procedures should be invoked to address this incident promptly and fairly.
It’s essential to investigate this incident thoroughly, considering multiple perspectives and facts, to determine the appropriate course of action.
In conclusion, the party leadership should take immediate action to address this behavior and ensure that such disruptions do not happen in the future. This may involve disciplinary action against the chairman and other individuals involved, as well as measures to promote a culture of tolerance and respect within the party in the rebuilding processes of the party.
END.
