The National Lottery Authority’s Good Causes Foundation has donated an amount of Ghc100,000 to support the fight against the outbreak of meningitis in the Upper west Region.
Presenting the cheque to the Upper west Regional minister at a short ceremony in Accra on friday,
the Director General of the
NLA. Dr Mohammed Abdul -Salam, emphasized the foundations commitment to such causes.
“The foundation was set up on such grounds so when the Upper west Regional Minister officially called for support to solve the situation, we couldn’t deny them that help”,he stated.
The Upper West Regional minister Hon.Charles Lwanga Puozuing was grateful to the NLA for the donation. He stated that the funds would be used to tackle the outbreak and to support the victims.
So far, the Upper West Region has recorded about 75 cases of meningitis and 11 deaths.
Mr. Lwanga further mentioned that apart from the NLA ,his office has reached out to several organizations for additional support.
